A Funny Thing Happened

As young girls, my sisters Malou, Ada and I used to tag along with our mother whenever she had weddings to attend to. Aside from being a radio announcer and a college professor, our mother was also the neighborhood gown maker in our small town in Bulacan.  During weekends, she would accept made-to-order wedding gowns and formal dresses.  Her clients would usually request for her to assist in their weddings and host their   reception programs. She practically had no idea that what she was doing then would be a necessity for couples getting married today. Thanks to the people who coined the term wedding coordinator, my mother's work then has been given glamour these days.

As my sisters and l grew up, we saw with interest how the wedding industry continuously evolved. While spending a lot of our teenage years helping our mother in her bridal business, we valued its importance and decided to take over when the right time came.

After l got married in 1998, my sisters and l, with the blessings of our mother put up C &C Creative Concepts (C & C referring to Castillejos and Clemente), a one-stop bridal shop that would cater to the needs of busy couples seeking for budget-friendly wedding needs such as the gowns, photo and video, invitations, giveaways, etc. After opening our doors, our first few clients were our mother's clients.

Early on, we had our share of disappointment and hard times, but with a little prodding and some encouraging words from our very loving mother and mentor, we were challenged to prove ourselves and what we can offer. Soon enough, things started to turn for us. Our first clients had referred us to their friends and those friends referred us to their friends and so on. After a while, even the media noticed us and our services and began featuring our little shop in major newspapers, bridal magazines, and lifestyle TV programs.

Last year, with our mom as publisher, we launched the first Annual Bridal Catalogue in the Philippines, Dream Weddings Annual which was launched amidst a successful bridal fair and fashion show held at the Makati Shangri-La.  After receiving clamor for a regular publication and to keep brides and grooms updated on the latest trends in weddings and our company, we have also decided to come out with a quarterly magazine, Dream Weddings.

In your hands, you now hold the fruition of years of hard work, dedications and a commitment to make life easier for people who are planning to tie the knot. Welcome to Dream Weddings magazine.

In this issue, we offer you some insightful tips on how to have your dream wedding with your budget. We are also featuring creative ideas on how you can personalize your invitations and giveaways. Moreover, starting this issue, we shall take you back to some of C & C Creative Concepts' cherished weddings through the years and let pictures inspire you as you prepare for our own.

Our years in business may be short but our actual hands-on experience cannot be underestimated. As we continue to grow, we want you to grow with us.

Until the next issue, happy planning and best wishes!
